The Mission
Gothe Residency of the Arts fosters the creative spirit by providing alternative artists with immersive spaces and valuable opportunities that deepen their resonance with the art they create.
ABOUT
The History
Gothe Residency of the Arts (GROTA) began in April 2023 as a small, independent creative studio. GROTA launched with a series of guest visionary projects inviting the world into Vincent Gothe's long-term vision: hosting an artist residency programme—providing guest artists with the time, space, and resources they need to create—from an environment of utmost intention and hospitality. Throughout GROTA's first year, these visionary projects attracted an international community of artists and patrons who resonated with GROTA's creative values and contributed to its development.
In July 2023, Vincent was invited to host GROTA's first international exhibition, GROTA VISIONS—which in addition to bringing members of GROTA’s community together for the very first time, offered many participating artists their first opportunity to exhibit work in a professional setting.
Building on this shared success, Vincent created GROTA's first ongoing, international artist programme, the W.E.B. PenPal Programme, alongside a year-long touring community event and artist market, called the GROTA Darkmarket. These programmes further contributed to the expansion of GROTA's international creative network.
Ongoing Developments
As of 2026, Vincent Gothe and his independent creative studio continue to expand GROTA through new and engaging initiatives; nurturing the creative spirit, honoring creative process, and inspiring artists to explore their unique interests—forming meaningful creative connections with themselves and other artists around the world.
Vincent is actively preparing for property acquisition in Scotland to establish GROTA's permanent artist residency, with sponsors coming forward to support studio renovations and ongoing operations.
